The time travller's wife is a fiction regarding a man who has the sepcific ability to travel to the past and the future. Although he has such a specific ability, he also has quite a lot of limitations in his time travels. He cannot decide the desitination to visit by his own although he used to visit the places and the moments which are quite significant to him. He cannot control when he will start his travelling. He cannot change the destiny for what has happened. He can only see and observe what it happened.
You can image that this guy will enjoy several specific experiences which the normal people won't have but he will also be quite sentimental for some sad and happy moments. He visit the moment when her mother was dead for several times. His ex-girl friend killed herself in front of his face upon his visit in one of his time travel from the future.
The main story of this fiction is regarding the love between the time traveller and his wife. His wife knew the time traveller since she was a child. The time traveller visited her from different period of the time in his life. She was waiting his visit from time to time until they finally met in the synchronous real time frame, dated and married. At the moment they met, the time travller did not know his wife yet but his wife has known him for several years. Thus he was generally experiencing the love as the normal people but his wife was experiencing a quite specific love than the others. She can always have the expections that his husband will visit her one day from the past even when the time travller was dead.
The love story often touches our heart especially for those with the faith in the story. Besides the love story, this faction also leads us to think about our lives through those of the characters in the book. The life might be bitter sometimes while it is also quite joyful in the other moment. Can we enjoy our lives no matter what it is just as enjoying the story of the others in the book?
